Field Gas Conditioning

Turn Field Gas Into a Usable, Reliable Fuel Source

Nacelle’s field gas conditioning units process field gas on site, making it suitable for use in drilling and completions operations. Whether the gas is rich (high BTU) or pipeline-quality, our operationally-tailored technology, including patented systems for high-BTU gas, helps operators run a successful field gas fueling program, reducing reliance on diesel, LNG, and CNG while maintaining consistent performance in the field.

Why Field Gas Conditioning

Field gas is an underutilized resource. When properly conditioned, it can displace traditional fuels, lower operating costs, and reduce emissions, all while keeping operations running.

  • Safety: less manual refueling, fewer trucks, and reduced manpower on site
  • Lower operating costs: diesel, CNG, and LNG displacement, with longer engine life and less maintenance
  • Environmental performance: lower diesel emissions, reduced flaring, and support for ESG goals
  • Added revenue: retain valuable natural gas liquids (NGLs) for downstream marketing

Since 2015, Nacelle’s field gas conditioning has displaced more than 154 million gallons of diesel and generated over $479 million in fuel savings across 940+ oil and gas projects (as of September 2024).

Our Field Gas Conditioning Units

Four units, matched to your gas and your site.

DWIGHT™

Patented. For rich, high-BTU field gas.

On-site conditioning for drilling and completions where high-BTU gas is present. Includes onboard compression, conditioned and permeate streams, dual-mode capability for enhanced operation, and IR flame and gas detection.

DONNIE™

Patented. For rich, high-BTU field gas.

On-site conditioning for drilling and completions where high-BTU gas is present. Features conditioned and permeate streams and Donnie/Daisy mode for added operating flexibility.

DAISY™

For pipeline-quality (dry) field gas.

A higher-capacity mobile unit for drilling and completions where pipeline-quality gas is present, with process capacity up to 12 MMSCFD and hazardous atmosphere monitoring.

DOLLY™

For pipeline-quality (dry) field gas.

A compact, self-powered mobile unit for drilling operations where pipeline-quality gas is present, with process capacity up to 1.5 MMSCFD and hazardous atmosphere monitoring.

Standard across the lineup: remote and push-button ESD, remote monitoring, onboard fire extinguishers, and no external power requirements, plus unit-specific gas and atmosphere monitoring.

Common Questions

Field gas conditioning processes natural gas on site so it can fuel drilling and completions equipment. It makes field gas usable, helping operators displace diesel, LNG, and CNG while maintaining performance in the field.
It depends on your gas. Rich, high-BTU gas is suited to Dwight and Donnie, while pipeline-quality (dry) gas is suited to Daisy and Dolly. Nacelle evaluates your gas and site conditions to match the right unit before deployment.
Conditioned field gas can displace diesel, CNG, and LNG, lowering fuel costs and emissions across drilling and completions operations.
Yes. Every unit includes remote and push-button emergency shutdown, 24/7 remote monitoring, onboard fire suppression, and unit-specific gas and atmosphere monitoring, with no external power required.
Yes. Nacelle is not limited to standard configurations and provides engineering solutions tailored to your gas composition, site conditions, and operating goals.
